The Machina skid plate for the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 gives this off-road-ready adventure bike the underbody protection it badly needs. The X300 has no frame cradle beneath the engine, leaving the oil pan, lower engine cases, and the components behind the front wheel exposed on every gravel road and trail. This 3mm aluminium plate, finished in black powder coat, shields the engine belly and bolts to the frame — not to the fragile oil-pan tabs that cause cracked sumps on cheaper plates.
It mounts at four frame points on both sides of the engine using the existing OEM hardware — no drilling required. It fits with the OEM plastic shrouds still in place, so the bike keeps its finished look and the side sensor is not exposed. A functional V-shaped airflow channel and front ventilation holes keep air moving over the engine, and the smooth underside slides over obstacles cleanly.
Oil changes require plate removal via the OEM bolts — a quick removal that also lets you clear debris and inspect the underside while you are there. Bolt-on with no drilling or permanent modifications, approximately 20 minutes. Designed and tested on Indian roads by MACHINA.

The Versys-X 300 has no frame cradle beneath the engine — the oil-pan tabs are the only obvious mounting point, but they are fragile aluminium castings not designed to take impact loads. Mounting to the oil-pan tabs is what causes cracked sumps on cheaper plates. The Machina plate bolts to four frame points on both sides of the engine, so any impact goes into the chassis instead of the oil pan.
No. The Machina plate is designed to fit with the OEM shrouds in place — you keep the stock look and the side sensor stays covered and protected.
No. The plate has a functional V-shaped airflow channel running its length and ventilation holes in the front section, specifically to keep air moving over the engine. The cooling provision is built into the design.
No — it reuses the existing OEM mounting hardware. A clean bolt-on with no modifications to the bike.
The plate comes off using the OEM bolts for an oil change — straightforward removal that also gives you the opportunity to clear debris from underneath and inspect the plate while you are there.
Approximately 20 minutes. The plate reuses the OEM bolts and fits with the shrouds in place, so there is no stripping down required. Standard spanners and allen keys are all you need.
