The Machina skid plate for the BMW R1300 GS and R1300 GSA gives the flagship boxer full underbody protection for serious adventure use. Built from 4mm aluminium, it shields the entire underside of the engine — from the exhaust headers back through the catalytic converter and sump — the components that are both most exposed and most expensive to repair on this bike.
Two plastic sliders on the underside let the plate glide over rocks and obstacles instead of catching, and structural fins on both sides add stiffness without the weight of a thicker flat plate. It mounts to the bottom of the engine, distributing impact across the mounting points, and is compatible with OEM lower crash bars, Touratech-style lower bars, and Machina's own crash bars. One plate fits both the GS and the GSA.
Bolt-on to existing mounting points using standard tools, with all hardware included. Note: oil changes require plate removal on this model — no built-in drain provision. Removal takes a few minutes and also gives you the opportunity to clear debris and inspect the underside. Designed and tested on Indian roads by MACHINA.

The Machina R1300 skid plate gives full bottom coverage — exhaust headers, catalytic converter, and sump. These are the most exposed and most expensive components to repair on this bike. The 4mm aluminium plate is built to take serious impacts, not just deflect light debris.
The two plastic sliders on the underside let the plate glide off rocks and obstacles instead of catching and stopping the bike. They are sacrificial — when they wear down, you replace just the sliders, not the plate. Do not remove them; that is what they are designed for.
Yes. The Machina R1300 skid plate is compatible with OEM lower crash bars, Touratech-style lower crash bars, and Machina's own crash bars for the R1300. On this platform the plate and lower bars share mounting territory, so confirming compatibility matters — and Machina covers the main setups riders use.
Yes — one plate fits both the BMW R1300 GS and R1300 GSA. There are no separate part numbers for the two variants.
Yes — the R1300 plate is removed to service the engine. There is no built-in drain hole. Removal takes a few minutes and also gives you the opportunity to clear any trapped debris and inspect the underside of the plate while you are there.
The 4mm aluminium plate combined with structural fins on both sides gives the stiffness and impact resistance the R1300 needs without the excess weight of a thicker flat plate. The fins add rigidity where it counts while keeping overall weight reasonable for a touring and adventure platform.
