The Machina skid plate for the BMW R1300 GS and R1300 GSA gives the flagship boxer full underbody protection for serious adventure use. Built from 4mm aluminium, it shields the entire underside of the engine — from the exhaust headers back through the catalytic converter and sump — the components that are both most exposed and most expensive to repair on this bike.
Two plastic sliders on the underside let the plate glide over rocks and obstacles instead of catching, and structural fins on both sides add stiffness without the weight of a thicker flat plate. It mounts to the bottom of the engine, distributing impact across the mounting points, and is compatible with OEM lower crash bars, Touratech-style lower bars, and Machina's own crash bars. One plate fits both the GS and the GSA.
Bolt-on to existing mounting points using standard tools, with all hardware included. Note: oil changes require plate removal on this model. Designed and tested on Indian roads by MACHINA.

4 mm aluminium. Aluminium is strong for its weight and does not rust, so it copes with rain, mud and road spray.
It bolts to the BMW R 1300 GS / R 1300 GSA's mounting points under the engine with basic hand tools. Fit all bolts loosely first, line the plate up, then tighten evenly. Any mechanic can fit it if you'd rather not do it yourself.
Yes. Tall speed breakers, potholes, flying stones and broken ghat roads are exactly what a skid plate is for. It keeps the sump and lower engine of your BMW R 1300 GS / R 1300 GSA safe from hits that could crack a casing and leave you stranded far from a service centre.
Check drain-plug and filter access when you first fit the plate. If access is tight on your model, the plate comes off with its mounting bolts in a few minutes for servicing.
